The PEGASUS (Photoelectron Generated Amplified Spontaneous Radiation Source) free electron laser laboratory is currently being commissioned at UCLA. The PEGASUS laboratory's high-brightness electron beam is provided by the PWT photoinjector, a novel photocathode-driven S-band compact integrated source. The PWT will provide 1 nC, 10 psec bunches of 20 MeV electrons. Beam emittance is expected to be less than 1 mm mrad. Initial SASE FEL studies will take place on a 2 meter IR undulator, with a 20.5 cm period and K=1.05. Future experiments will include a millimeter waveguide upgrade to the 2m undulator.
