On the way to an FEL user facility, the TESLA Test Facility FEL has generated its first Self-Amplified Spontaneous Emission in the Vacuum Ultraviolet in the range between 80 and 180 nm. The measured data will be presented. For the user facility, the final goal is a minimum radiation wavelength of 6 nm. Several possible extensions naturally synchronized with the VUV beam in addition to the two-stage FEL are under consideration. Among them are a Regenerative Amplifier FEL (RAFEL) in the Ultraviolet (100 to 300 nm), a higher harmonic generator, a far-infrared coherent light source in the wavelength range between 100 and 300 micrometer and a X-ray source using backscattered photons from the infrared coherent source. These possibilities and the implementation into the user facility will be discussed.
