Last year an intense electron beam produced by an induction accelerator was bunched using a Free-Electron-Laser and used to generate r-f power by its passage through a resonant cavity [1]. An improved version of this experiment has been carried out in the last few months, with the aim of obtaining higher beam current and r-f power. In particular, an important effort was made to directly observe the beam bunching by optical means. The preliminary results of this updated experiment will be presented.
