In the last year the Stanford Picosecond FEL
Center has continued its scientific program in
the mid- and far-infrared and in FEL physics. In
the mid-infrared we have two-color pump-probe
experiments, cavity ringdown spectroscopy, and
a number of scanning near-field microspcopy
experiments. In the far-infrared the experiments
have concentrated on the spectroscopy of
semiconductor quantum structures in ultrahigh
magnetic fields. We have been studying the FEL
dynamics of modulated desynchronism to obtain
very short optical pulses.
