The Industrial free electron Laser (IFEL) thematic group has been operating now for 18 months and during this period the group has examined suitable IFEL designs and a range of possible applications. This paper describes the possible designs of an electron beam/em wave interaction regions namely; conventional, Cerenkov and Gaussian mode operating at 100kV and frequencies from 10 to 100GHz. The programme of work for the next 18 months is reviewed with all the possible industrial applications.
