FEL Prize

The 2000 FEL Prize has been awarded jointly to:

Stephen V. Benson (Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility)
Eisuke J. Minehara (Japan Atomic Energy Research Insitute)
George R. Neil (Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility

in recognition of their achievement of high-power operation of free-electron lasers.


The members of the FEL Prize Committee invite you to make a nomination for the 2000 FEL Prize, which will be awarded at the XXIIth International FEL Conference this August. In addition to the value of the prize itself, the award carries great honor, and provides an opportunity for the international FEL community to recognize one of its members for her or his outstanding achievements and service to us all.

Clearly, many worthy recipients deserve to be added to this list in the future.

In addition to the name of the nominee, we would encourage you to provide a short justification of your nomination. Ordinarily, a couple of paragraphs citing a few of her/his most important publications, should be enough.

We would appreciate receiving your nomination by 30 June 2000. This will give us time to consider the nominations submitted, reach a decision, and arrange for the prize. Please send your nominations to:
